Jan-14 Regular Resume

1/16/2025

A resume is an essential tool for job seekers, acting as a personal marketing document that highlights your skills, experience, and accomplishments. It’s typically the first impression you make on potential employers, and a well-crafted resume can open the door to interviews and job offers. Without a resume that clearly communicates your qualifications, it’s difficult to stand out in a competitive job market. A strong resume helps showcase not only what you’ve achieved but also how you can bring value to a future employer, making it a critical component of the job application process.

When creating a resume, the first step is to choose a clean, professional format that’s easy to read. Your resume should be logically organized into sections such as contact information, a summary or objective statement, work experience, education, and relevant skills. Work experience is typically the most important part of your resume, where you should list your past job titles, companies you’ve worked for, and the dates of employment. Under each job, include bullet points that describe your responsibilities and key accomplishments, using strong action verbs and focusing on quantifiable results, such as increased sales, completed projects, or enhanced efficiency.

It’s also important to tailor your resume for each job application. Generic resumes often get overlooked by hiring managers, who are looking for candidates that align with the specific requirements of the position. To optimize your resume, carefully read the job description and adjust your resume to emphasize the skills and experiences that match what the employer is seeking. Using keywords from the job listing can also help ensure that your resume passes through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), which many companies use to filter resumes before they’re even seen by a person.

To assist with formatting and organizing your resume, many online resources offer templates and examples that can guide you. Websites like Indeed, Zety, and JobHero provide a variety of sample resumes for different industries and levels of experience. Reviewing these examples can give you an idea of how to structure your own resume and present your qualifications in the best possible light. With a well-organized, targeted resume, you’ll increase your chances of making a strong impression and securing the job you want. You can use Open Office or Mirosoft's Office to put the resume together.

Today we are going to put together on the computer everything we have done thus far for a "regular" resume. Later we will put together the start of a art resume. For now we will focus just on current work history. In your journal brainstorm jobs you might like to apply for to get you through while you work on you art career. I myself have always had a duello career. Ive always worked in management while doing art on the side. So for now we are going to address our "regular" job. In the next few pages we will explore what we need for a art resume.

What we are doing is preparing for our future. You may have a job you like already but it never hurts to be prepared for a better opportunity. In your journal write about jobs you have liked in the past or what your "dream" job looks like. By updating our resume we are one step closer to a better future. Be sure to save your resume on your computer and update it at least once a year.
