Pierce the Veil is an American post-hardcore band known for its emotionally charged lyrics, intricate guitar work, and genre-blending sound that incorporates elements of punk, emo, and alternative rock. Formed in 2006 in San Diego, California, the band was founded by brothers Vic Fuentes (vocals, guitar) and Mike Fuentes (drums) after the disbandment of their previous group, Before Today. Soon joined by Tony Perry (guitar) and Jaime Preciado (bass), Pierce the Veil quickly developed a unique style characterized by Vic’s soaring, expressive vocals and the band’s dynamic instrumentation. Their debut album, A Flair for the Dramatic (2007), gained attention within the post-hardcore community, setting the stage for the band's future success and passionate fanbase.
Their breakthrough came with the release of Selfish Machines (2010) and Collide with the Sky (2012), the latter of which included the hit single "King for a Day" featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens. This song became a defining track for the band, garnering millions of streams and helping Pierce the Veil gain mainstream recognition. Known for their high-energy live performances and deeply personal lyrics, often touching on themes of love, heartbreak, and mental health, Pierce the Veil has maintained a strong following in the alternative music scene. After a brief hiatus, they made a celebrated return with The Jaws of Life (2023), showcasing a matured sound and affirming their status as influential figures in post-hardcore.
