DanaHaynes's Music Collectibles 1-10 Finger Eleven
Finger Eleven is a Canadian rock band recognized for its versatile style, blending elements of alternative rock, post-grunge, and metal with introspective and emotionally driven lyrics. Formed in 1989 in Burlington, Ontario, the band originally started under the name Rainbow Butt Monkeys, with Scott Anderson on vocals, Rick Jackett and James Black on guitars, Sean Anderson on bass, and Rob Gommerman on drums, who was later replaced by Rich Beddoe. After releasing their first album under the playful moniker, the band rebranded as Finger Eleven in 1996, marking a shift to a more serious, polished sound. Their debut album as Finger Eleven, Tip (1997), helped them gain traction in Canada and set the foundation for their rise in the alternative rock scene.
Finger Eleven’s breakout moment came with their third album, Greyest of Blue Skies (2000), and particularly with their 2003 self-titled album, which featured the chart-topping single “One Thing.” This track, a slower, introspective ballad, became a major hit and introduced the band to an international audience. They followed this success with Them vs. You vs. Me (2007), which included the massively popular song “Paralyzer,” a funk-rock anthem that showcased the band’s versatility and remained a rock radio staple. Known for their ability to explore a range of styles—from heavy rock riffs to melodic, acoustic-driven ballads—Finger Eleven has maintained a loyal fanbase. They continue to tour and release music, bringing their dynamic sound and introspective lyrics to audiences worldwide, solidifying their place in Canadian rock history.
