DanaHaynes's Music Collectibles 1-17 Dokken
Dokken is an American heavy metal band formed in 1976 by lead vocalist Don Dokken in Los Angeles, California. The band originally gained attention for their unique blend of melodic hard rock and heavy metal, which combined elements of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with a distinct American sound. Known for their sharp, high-pitched vocals and electrifying guitar solos, Dokken found success throughout the 1980s with hits like "Alone Again," "Just Got Lucky," and "In My Dreams." Their music resonated with fans of both hard rock and glam metal, and they became a prominent part of the Sunset Strip scene, alongside bands like Mötley Crüe and Ratt.
Dokken's lineup changed frequently, but its core members included Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, bassist Jeff Pilson, and drummer Mick Brown. Their most commercially successful albums include Tooth and Nail (1984), Under Lock and Key (1985), and Back for the Attack (1987), which solidified their place in rock history. Despite internal tensions—particularly between Don Dokken and George Lynch—the band enjoyed a string of successful albums and tours throughout the '80s. While their popularity waned in the 1990s, Dokken remains a key figure in the hard rock and metal world, continuing to perform and record new music, retaining a loyal fanbase drawn to their signature sound of melodic metal and heartfelt ballads.
