DanaHaynes's Music Collectibles 1-22 Krokus
Krokus is a Swiss hard rock band that formed in 1975, known for their blend of heavy metal, hard rock, and classic rock influences. Initially founded by guitarist Fernando von Arb and bassist Chris von Rohr, Krokus went through several lineup changes in their early years before finding their distinctive sound. Their breakthrough came in the early 1980s with a string of successful albums, starting with Metal Rendez-Vous (1980), which established the band as a force in the European hard rock scene. Their energetic, riff-driven sound and catchy, anthemic songs caught the attention of international audiences, particularly in North America. Krokus gained mainstream success with albums like Headhunter (1983) and The Blitz (1984), which included hits like "Screaming in the Night" and "Long Stick Goes Boom," pushing them into the hard rock and heavy metal spotlight.
Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, Krokus continued to tour and release albums, with varying levels of success. Their sound, which often drew comparisons to bands like AC/DC and Judas Priest, made them a staple on the European rock circuit. However, despite their international recognition, Krokus struggled with lineup changes and the shifting musical landscape of the 1990s. The band went on hiatus several times but returned with new albums, including Hoodoo (2010), showing they still had a dedicated fanbase. Known for their raw, no-nonsense approach to rock music, Krokus has maintained a loyal following over the years, celebrated for their consistent commitment to hard rock and their enduring influence on the Swiss music scene.
