Megadeth is an American thrash metal band formed in 1983 by guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine, following his departure from Metallica. Alongside bassist David Ellefson, Mustaine assembled a lineup that would define Megadeth's aggressive and complex style, characterized by fast tempos, intricate guitar solos, and politically charged lyrics. The band’s 1985 debut album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, showcased their raw, high-energy sound and quickly earned them a reputation in the burgeoning thrash metal scene. However, it was their follow-up albums Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying? (1986) and So Far, So Good... So What! Their 1990 album Rust in Peace is widely regarded as a thrash metal masterpiece, featuring technical guitar work and complex arrangements. Over the years, Megadeth released several critically acclaimed albums, including Countdown to Extinction (1992), Youthanasia (1994), and Dystopia (2016), with the band evolving their sound while maintaining their signature intensity.
