Gin Blossoms is an American rock band formed in 1987 in Tempe, Arizona, known for their melodic blend of alternative rock and jangle pop. The band's classic lineup included lead vocalist Robin Wilson, guitarists Doug Hopkins and Jesse Valenzuela, bassist Bill Leen, and drummer Phillip Rhodes. Gin Blossoms achieved widespread success with the release of their 1992 album New Miserable Experience, which featured the hit singles "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You." These tracks, along with the album's overall blend of catchy hooks and introspective lyrics, helped establish the band as a significant force in the early '90s alt-rock scene.
Their sound, which combined elements of power pop with a more emotional, melancholy edge, resonated with fans and critics alike.
However, the band’s rise to fame was marred by internal struggles, particularly the battle with alcoholism and depression that led to the departure of original guitarist Doug Hopkins in 1992. Tragically, Hopkins took his own life in 1993, a loss that deeply affected the band. Despite this tragedy, Gin Blossoms continued to release successful albums, including Congratulations I'm Sorry (1996), which featured the hit single "Follow You Down." After a series of lineup changes and a hiatus in the early 2000s, Gin Blossoms reunited in 2002 and have remained active ever since, releasing new music and touring extensively. The band's combination of heartfelt lyrics, catchy melodies, and a knack for blending pop sensibilities with rock influences has helped them maintain a loyal fa
