DanaHaynes's Music Collectibles 4-1 Hanson
Hanson is an American pop band formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1992, consisting of brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson. The trio first gained widespread fame in the late '90s with their infectious pop hit "MMMBop" from their debut album Middle of Nowhere (1997), which became a global sensation. The song's catchy chorus and the band's youthful charm helped propel Middle of Nowhere to multi-platinum success, making Hanson one of the most talked-about pop acts of the late '90s. Despite their young ages—Isaac was 16, Taylor was 14, and Zac was 11 at the time—the band’s sophisticated musicianship, particularly their impressive vocal harmonies and instrumental skills, set them apart from many of their teen pop peers.
Following their initial success, Hanson continued to release albums throughout the 2000s, including This Time Around (2000) and Underneath (2004), though they struggled to maintain mainstream attention in the face of changing music trends. Despite this, Hanson remained a beloved band with a dedicated fanbase and a reputation for their strong, self-produced music and energetic live performances. Over the years, Hanson transitioned from pop stars to respected musicians, experimenting with a more mature sound rooted in rock, pop, and Americana. They have continued to release albums, tour, and build their independent record label, 3CG Records, while maintaining their tight-knit brotherly bond and their legacy as the band behind the timeless anthem "MMMBop." Hanson remains active today, celebrated for their resilience in the music industry and their lasting impact on pop music.
