Usher Raymond IV, known mononymously as Usher, is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer who rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Born on October 14, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, Usher began his musical career at a young age, signing his first record deal with LaFace Records in 1993. He released his self-titled debut album in 1994, but it was his second album, My Way (1997), that truly launched him into stardom. With hits like "Nice & Slow" and "You Make Me Wanna," Usher became a dominant force in R&B, known for his smooth vocals, impressive dance moves, and ability to blend contemporary R&B with pop and hip-hop influences. His third album, 2004's Confessions, solidified his status as one of the genre's top artists, with singles like "Yeah!" and "Burn" topping charts worldwide.
Usher's career continued to soar through the 2000s and beyond, with each new album showcasing his versatility and continued evolution as an artist. Confessions was followed by Here I Stand (2008) and Raymond v. Raymond (2010), which featured a mix of R&B, pop, and electronic influences, further establishing his ability to stay relevant in a rapidly changing musical landscape. Over the years, Usher has become known not only for his musical talent but also for his business acumen and philanthropic efforts. He has earned numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, and remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary R&B. Usher’s legacy includes not just his chart-topping albums and singles, but also his impact on the modern evolution of R&B and pop music.
