DanaHaynes's Music Collectibles 4-14 Days Of New
Days of the New is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Charlestown, Indiana, by lead vocalist and guitarist Travis Meeks. The band is best known for its acoustic-driven sound that blends elements of alternative rock, post-grunge, and folk. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1997, was a breakthrough success, featuring hit singles like "Touch, Peel and Stand" and "The Down Town." These tracks, with their raw emotional lyrics and acoustic instrumentation, resonated deeply with listeners, earning the band critical acclaim and significant airplay on rock radio. The album went platinum and helped establish Days of the New as one of the standout acts of the late '90s alternative rock scene.
Despite the success of their debut album, Days of the New faced lineup changes, and the band's sound began to shift. Their follow-up albums, Days of the New II (1999) and Days of the New III (2001), saw Travis Meeks as the central creative force, with each album presenting a darker, more complex sound than its predecessor. However, despite the band's talent and success, internal conflicts, particularly with Meeks' relationships with band members, led to the band's eventual decline in mainstream attention. Nevertheless, the group retains a loyal fanbase, and Meeks' unique songwriting and intense vocal style continue to be recognized as a defining aspect of Days of the New's identity. Although the band has remained largely inactive in recent years, their contributions to the alternative rock genre and their powerful, introspective music still resonate with fans of late-'90s rock
